BLOG!! BLOG!! BLOG!!

Hey Scholars,
I am hoping you are working hard this weekend on your diversity experience. Please use this blog as an opportunity to share some of YOUR personal experiences with discrimination, bias or pre-judgement...describe an experience you have personally had, or have observed.

How did you respond to this situation?
Would you do anything differently now?

Blog n stuff

Hey Scholars

This week I would like you to talk about your top three values. If you don't know what a "value" is, look it up. Tell you peers what those values are and WHY you feel so strongly about them. Our values define and determine how we react and interact in the world...so be thoughtful.

I NEED YOU TO ALSO TELL ME WHERE YOU ARE IN YOUR FAMILY IN TERMS OF BIRTH ORDER. That means, oldest, middle, youngest or only.  I know a lot of you have step siblings, cousins etc. so think about how your family home was when you were growing up...who was in the house and were you oldest, middle, youngest or only in terms of how you were raised.

See you Wednesday! Have a great weekend!!

Blog #5!!

Hey Scholars!!
What an amazing day yesterday was! I am just so proud of you all. Very professional, best feedback we have ever gotten and it really sounds like some of you may find some jobs, or at least have some great networking  opportunities. Many thanks to Sandy for all her hard work!!

For this week's blog, and this is also part of your interview grade, I need you to go by the Price Center ASAP, pick up THANK YOU CARDS for each interviewer you met with (so, if you did two, get two, if you did three, get three).  If you want to use your own cards, that is also fine.

Please hand write a thank you follow up note to each of your interviewers and bring these to class next week. Make sure you know how to spell their names, and be genuine in your thanks.

This is a really important part of the etiquette behind interviewing. So it is worth double points and I expect that ALL OF YOU will make this happen.

I heard a saying today that I really enjoyed so I am sharing it with you...

A candle loses nothing by sharing its flame with another candle

You are lovely and bright candles, please share your flame.

Hugs,
L

the meaning of life??

Please talk about these quotes and how you can (or already are) staying true to yourself, your values and your world. What, for you, is your purpose here on earth???

Read carefully and do it now!!

Hello Scholars!!
First of all, thanks for a fantastic day today. I know it was long but you all did a great job of sharing. Please don't forget that the Information Interview presentations are in two weeks. If you anticipate problems with that, let me know sooner rather than later, ok? I will send out details on presentation format later this week.

For your blog---FIRST YEAR STUDENTS---please complete the survey below and screen shot the last page...post it so I know you did it. DEADLINE IS FEBRUARY 28th so do it now! If you do not get to it, please do the assignment below for the MENTORS

http://www.psibetasdcc.com/researchstudy

MENTORS, please discuss what you feel is your most effective coping mechanism (how you manage your time, your stress, your relationships, etc,) and your least effective coping mechanism. The idea is to share your growth with our first year scholars and each other...and we ALL have less effective coping methods...but it is good to admit it to yourself so...be honest and have at it!

Hugs,
L

Blog #2

Thank you all for a wonderful class today. I felt as though you were all working hard to get the most out of the class and the exercises we did. I loved watching you all. YOU ROCK!!

OK, so,  in an effort to consolidate what we are working in, please spend a few minutes telling each other about your current career goals, hopes and ideal job. What are the most important aspects of a life long career for YOU. If you could do anything, what would it be?? And, right now,  what do you see standing in your way?

BLOG #1

Hello my lovely Scholars!!

It is a rainy Sunday....a great time to get your homework finished! Take some time to just sit and BE. Read a book, even?

For this weeks reflection, please share with everyone your favorite quote or saying (if you don't have one, search the web til one catches you!) Tell us what it means to you and when you and how you remind yourself to use it.

Also, remember that we will be working on your career goals this week...and informational interviewing.  So bring your Ed plan, your laptops and a great attitude.
